Jose and Marlene Velazquez are so excited and honored to be serving as pastors at Five Cities Vineyard! Jose serves as the associate pastor and Marlene is the children’s pastor, overseeing the nursery all the way up through High School.  Together they lead Jr. High and High School youth group. They both have a connection with children, and have a passion for seeing them decide to follow the Lord. Jose and Marlene love to watch children get excited to learn about God and worship Him! They both feel called to work with children and youth and have spent several years preparing for this opportunity.

Marlene served as a children’s ministry intern for one year in high school and it was during this time several years ago that she first dreamed of being a children’s pastor. She has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Psychology, a minor in Biblical Studies, and she furthered her studies by attending a semester at Focus on the Family Institute. Jose attended Cal Poly University and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. He has experience counseling youth from an internship at Arroyo Grande High School and worked with Child Welfare Services for 10 years before becoming a full time staff member at Five Cities Vineyard.

Jose and Marlene met working at Child Welfare Services. Their relationship grew while working together investigating child abuse, often times involving drug busts or hospital visits. Working with so many hurting children and families has strengthened their desire to see kids come to experience a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

They have three wonderful children, Aubriella, Ezra and Alayah.
